Final 6 - 10 Years From Now

With technology rapidly improving, there is really no way to tell what the future holds.  The technology from ten years ago seems so primitive to what we have now.  It is hard to imagine exactly how can improve.  Yet, as demonstrated by virtual experiences in our Immersive Education Class - Discovering Computer Graphics, technology has so much more to show us.

Through our experiences in this class, we were able to see the capabilities of modern technology (and not even close to the most powerful).  Using a virtual world, we created our own avatar's or characters to represent us.  We then customized these characters and used them to meet in virtual classroom environment.

Judging by the already impressive technology and evidence of Moore's law, technology still has a lot to show us.  I imagine ten years from now, not only will we be in numerous virtual worlds, but we will be controlling our own avatars with full body movements (much like the movie Surrogates or Gamer).  While in the past these concepts seemed impossible, in reality they are not too far away.

I can see myself getting much more into computer gaming as well.  Although I would like to think I'm growing too old for games, the fact is I'm getting more and more into them.  There is so much that we can learn from interactive experiences such Immersive Education Classes.  Not only are they fun, but we are learning so much about technology while we are in these worlds.

I look forward to the future of technology, for I know nothing but the incredible is about to come.
