Assignment 2-1: My Gimp Shop Photo

To begin, I chose a recent photo I used as a desktop background.  Above in an abstract image of blue swirls that look somewhat like ice and water.   I have always been interested in art and design so these images have always appealed to me.

Next, I experimented with the pencil, pen, and smudge tool to create the image above.  I noticed that the calligraphy tool created the most distinct and interesting lines.  The smudge tool, when used with a large brush size, was awesome for creating large distorted patterns.

After watching the Open and Zoom tutorial, I decided to enlarge only a portion of the photo as shown above.
